Put your catalogue somewhere it can be trusted.
Upstream is a maker-owned streaming co-operative for independent, arthouse, documentary, international, and classic cinema. You bring the rights. We provide a clear window, a curated home, and statements you can reconcile.
A new window, not a replacement for your business.
Keep your other rights
Theatrical, broadcast, physical, other digital platforms, territories, and derivative rights remain yours unless your agreement says otherwise.
Choose the agreement
The rights window, territory, term, exclusivity, and any minimum guarantee or revenue share are defined in the title agreement.
See the numbers
Monthly reporting covers revenue, costs, verified viewing, allocation inputs, and the amount due. Statements are downloadable and auditable.
Your subscription revenue follows individual viewers.
The filmmaker pool is not divided by taking one film’s minutes and dividing them by total platform hours. The allocation happens at the viewer level, then rolls up to each film.
Monthly pool
Subscription revenue flows into the month’s SVOD pool after the applicable costs and split.
Personal allocation
Each eligible signed-in viewer receives a share of that pool based on their own verified viewing.
Film allocation
That viewer’s personal amount is divided among the films they watched, using the published scoring rules.
Film total
Every viewer-level amount for your film is added together to produce its monthly allocation.
A viewer who watches only your film directs their personal allocation to your film. A viewer who watches five films divides their personal allocation across those films. Your payout is the sum of those individual viewer allocations — not a simple platform-wide minutes ratio.
No black box between the audience and the cheque.
Revenue and costs
Gross receipts, payment processing, delivery costs at cost, the resulting pool, and the amount allocated to your title.
Viewing and allocation
Your film’s verified viewing, the relevant scoring inputs, the number of eligible viewers, and the viewer-level roll-up behind the total.
Rights-holder economics
Your contractual revenue share is separate from the co-op’s maker membership and Points system. They are not the same payout.
A clear audit trail
Months close through a repeatable process and are locked after reconciliation, so the reported history is not silently rewritten.
Bring the films. Keep the relationship.
We are building a distribution platform whose owners are the people who make the work. For rights holders, that means a commercial rights arrangement with unusually visible reporting.
